What is Humility?

Humility is a virtue that helps us grow spiritually. It means that we live without looking down on others. We are kind and considerate to others. Humility is a way that we present ourselves to others in which we do not act or speak as if we are superior or better than everyone else. Humility means to live in a way that we recognize everyone is the same as us. We see God in everyone.

We need to learn to curb our ego. The difficulty arises when we feel we are superior to everyone else. We may realize that at times we may be smarter, stronger, or richer than others, as judged at a physical level, but we also realize that at our very core, we are all the same and are all one. For example, we can see that all flowers are part of the same garden. We can see that some flowers are red, some are purple, and some are yellow. Some are tall and some are short. We can know there are outer differences, but we know they are all part of one garden and they are all flowers.

Similarly, we may all look different outwardly, but inside we are all the same. We are all soul, a part of God. Humility means realizing we are all one and the same, and treating everyone with love, kindness, and respect.

The Power of Love and Kindness

On May 30 people all over the world honor Sant Darshan Singh Ji Maharaj, the great spiritual Master and poet-saint who left the world thirty years ago in 1989. It has been thirty years since he left, but his life and example still shine brightly as a guiding star upon which we can base our own lives. Among his radiant qualities were his love and kindness.

Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day let us honor God and our mother for bringing us into this world and giving us love and care. We should extend this gratitude not just on the second Sunday of May, but every day of our lives.

The Spiritual Aspect of Earth Day

The Spiritual Aspect of Earth Day

Taking care of the earth means that we do not only think of ourselves, but we expand our mind, hearts, and souls to consider our planet and all forms of life that inhabit it. We can do so by opening our hearts in a spirit of humility, compassion, selflessness, and gratitude.
