Take the Path Less Traveled
Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj
When we look at this human life, there are many paths we can travel on, many destinations that we can choose. If one were to look down from a high vantage point, one would see people traveling on many different pathways as if they were ants scurrying around on the ground. Everyone is on a roadway going somewhere.
Some people are heading toward a life in which they are trying to become rich and financially independent. Others are on a pathway towards a career, devoting most of their adult life to working in a certain field. Some are on a trajectory of knowledge, devoting their time to study and research. Yet others are interested in relationships and having a family. Others are on a trajectory of mastery of a particular talent or skill, all their time devoted to perfecting their craft or their art. These trajectories are not mutually exclusive by any means.
The Path Less Traveled: The Journey of Love
If we were to examine all the pathways upon which people are walking, we find they all have one thing in common. All these pathways come to an end when we take our final breath. Our journey on these pathways stops at the time of our death. Our wealth, our careers, our worldly knowledge, our relationships, our art are all left behind when our physical body perishes.
In this video Sant Rajinder Singh Ji uses the example of changing television channels with a remote control to highlight how we can adjust our attention to focus on the inner path.
What then is the path that we can follow that is eternal, that outlives the demise of our physical body, and leads us to God? The answer is spirituality. It is the pathway of universal love that leads us to God, where we will be embraced in a love that will last for all eternity.
Meditation helps us find the right pathway
God is spirit and beyond the limitations of this physical world. If we spend our valuable life’s breaths in pursuit of the love of God, we will find a road that leads to an eternity of love. This journey of spirit leads our soul from a world of suffering into a realm of Light and eternal peace and love.
How can we attain this permanent blissful love? How can we set forth on the pathway to God? We can do so by sitting in meditation. Meditation on the inner Light and Sound of God is not just for physical relaxation of the body; it provides eternal love and bliss for the soul. It offers a pathway to attain the state of universal love.
By losing one’s heart to God, one can attain the supreme goal of life. The true guide on the path back to God is love. As we focus within, with the help and guidance of a spiritual teacher, we are able to connect with the current of Light and Sound.
This divine stream flows out from God and helps us return to God. It is like a royal highway back to God. The entry point to that highway lies within each of us.
Entering the inner realms, we experience regions of beauty, bliss, and Light which surpass any enjoyment in this physical world. We experience a delight and a happiness that fills our whole being.
Meditation transforms us
As we journey further within, the love and bliss we experience, and the mysteries that unfold to us, bring about a personal transformation within us.
We awaken to the reality of our existence. We become loving, caring, selfless individuals who embrace the oneness of life, and seek to serve all. We become channels of love that can bring joy and help to others. We are able to contribute to making the world a better place. We then can radiate universal love. We do good not for any gains for ourselves, but to be an instrument of God to help others.
Every aspect of spirituality is built on the principle of love that can be experienced universally by people of all ages and from all walks of life. The spiritual practices are fueled by the power of love. If we understand the role of universal love in all aspects of the spiritual path, we will find that spirituality is not hard at all. It is, in fact, easy.
