Daardoor wordt zowel de fysieke als ook de mentale gezondheid aangetast. Naast behandeling door medische vaklui biedt meditatie extra voordelen die ertoe bijdragen dat het effect van de depressie vermindert.<\/p>\n<h2>Hoe helpt meditatie bij het bestrijden van een depressie?<\/h2>\n<p><em><strong>Ten eerste,<\/strong><\/em> gaan tijdens de meditatie de hartslag en de snelheid van de ademhaling omlaag. Het vermindert de stress die het vrijkomen van cortisol en adrenaline in het lichaam activeert. Doordat de stresshormonen in ons lichaam minder worden, worden we rustiger.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Ten tweede,<\/strong><\/em> verlaagt meditatie de frequentie van onze hersengolven tot 4-7 Hz. Daardoor komen we in een evenwichtige, rustige gemoedstoestand. Door de geest tot rust te brengen kunnen we de kringloop van negatieve en onprettige gedachten reduceren.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Het derde, <\/strong><\/em>en belangrijkste punt is dat, we tijdens de meditatie in aanraking komen met een plek van vrede, geluk en vreugde binnenin onszelf. Op de buitenwereld gerichte mensen gaan naar hun medicijnkastje en halen een door mensenhand gemaakt medicijn, maar wij hebben een intern medicijnkastje binnenin onszelf dat ons in aanraking brengt met een natuurlijke vreugde en vrede die geen bijwerkingen heeft en niets kost.<\/p>\n<p>Als we mediteren vinden we in onszelf het centrum van kalmte dat ons met blijdschap vervult. In die toestand wordt droefheid minder. Tijdens de meditatie kunnen we een mini-vakantie van de problemen van het leven nemen. We blijven een tijdje in die staat van vreugde. En als we dan weer uit de meditatie komen, houdt die blijdschap de hele dag aan.<\/p>\n<p>Steeds meer medische vaklui raden hun pati\u00ebnten meditatie aan als een aanvullende behandeling tegen depressie.
